The quarterly lessons and commentary publications began in 1995, and provided inspired Bible based lessons for Sabbath school class and/or in-depth individual study. It was our goal for anyone who desires to know the Creator and to do His will, to learn and understand the precious truths of the Holy Bible. By providing these lessons here, we hope to help reveal a personal Savior in Jesus Christ, to the glory of God the Father.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Tim. 3:16-17.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. 1 Peter 3:15.
Our Quarterly Lesson Study Ministry
Tidings of Hope quarterlies are a commentary on the books of the Bible and are compiled from the writings of Ellen G. White, who lived in the late 19th and early 20th century and was renowned for her gift to understand and explain the scriptures. These inspired writings are called the Spirit of Prophecy. When asked about her calling, she said:
Early in my youth I was asked several times, Are you a prophet? I have ever responded, I am the Lord's messenger. I know that many have called me a prophet, but I have made no claim to this title. My Saviour declared me to be His messenger. "Your work," He instructed me, "is to bear My word. Strange things will arise, and in your youth I set you apart to bear the message to the erring ones, to carry the word before unbelievers, and with pen and voice to reprove from the Word actions that are not right. Exhort from the Word. I will make My Word open to you. It shall not be as a strange language. In the true eloquence of simplicity, with voice and pen, the messages that I give shall be heard from one who has never learned in the schools. My Spirit and My power shall be with you. –Selected Messages Book 1, p. 32.
For over 70 years this humble messenger of the Lord faithfully served God’s church to counsel, guide, instruct, and encourage His people in their journey to the Promised Land. Through inspiration she wrote:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17.
